Brittany and Tim's wedding was so incredible. Herrington on the Bay in North Beach, MD with its swaying palms, lush gardens, and waterfront location is one of my favorite venues. Their first look took place on the pier and Brittany's cathedral veil danced as the wind picked up. Their ceremony was beautiful, outside overlooking the water with swirling cirrus clouds above. Following their ceremony, guests enjoyed their cocktail hour on the patio with the delicious hors d'oeuvres, ambiance of the fire pit and market lighting, while taking in the orange glow of the sunset on the water. The amazing food, talented deejay along with the incredible staff at Herrington made the evening such a magical celebration for their family and friends. Morgan and Mark married on the waterfront of the Eastern Yacht Club. A picturesque day in October brought together family and friends to celebrate with Morgan and Mark. The first look with her dad brought many tears of joy and happiness and then it was time for her first look with Mark. A special moment shared between them to simply take it all in. Melissa and Joe were married on the water at the Big Red Barn, a venue with the feeling of a secret get-away, nestled in an Annapolis, MD neighborhood. Their wedding celebration was intimate, cozy, rustic and warm with friends, family, kids, games and the most delicious food and drinks. Melissa showed me the charms that hung from her bouquet in remembrance of her father and brother. She had unexpectedly lost her brother just months before her wedding. Major events following the loss of someone close are extraordinarily difficult, the unexplained emptiness is palpable. There were kids running around on the lawn, playing their version of corn-hole, nerf guns pointed at me periodically, guests mingling about, and that tingling warmth of being around those whom you love. After dinner, Joe and his daughter surprised everyone with a father/daughter dance. The masterful deejays drew the guests to the dance floor and the celebration continued. Lexy and Andrew combined their names and designed a logo with two arrows crossing through a cherry. Both talented and creative, they built their design using wooden planks and used it as their guest book! I love it when couples DIY details in their wedding to incorporate in their home decor. Their ceremony and reception were at Historic London Town Gardens in Annapolis, MD. It was an absolutely gorgeous evening with an outdoor ceremony and the best combination of vendors. Rouge Fine Catering provided the most delicious stations (best tacos ever), Christopher Temple rocked the house (as usual), and Megan with Ludic Events coordinated the day with ease. I met Casey, her bridesmaids and mom at the hotel for a few photos before going over to the Philip Merrill Environmental Center. The room was alive with excitement, stories of this past year, delicious pizza and the most vividly colored flowers. Last year after meeting Casey and her mom, her mom began cancer treatments (chemo, surgery, etc). Her mom had told doctors that she had a wedding to attend, so do anything and everything that you can. And her mom was sitting there getting her make-up done, telling me the details of this past year. And then she paused and said, "Sara, but now I'm cancer-free." Levels of celebration going on here... it was all I could do to hold it together. Arriving at the Philip Merrill Environmental Center for me is always just so amazing. It's a Green building sitting on the Chesapeake bay with a sandy beach, pier, long grasses, and plenty of greens, this photographer's dream. Casey and John's ceremony was touching and officiated by a long-time family pastor, so many beautiful connections at this wedding! Emily and Mike were married at Our Mother of Sorrows Church in Centreville, MD and had their reception at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club in Stevensville, MD on a perfect August day. CBBC is a unique venue in that you have a spectacular view of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in the background along with a sunset on the water. From the flowers that Rhonda Kaplan used in the lanterns to create soft romantic centerpieces to the amazing table of sweet treats that Jen from 2Hands Studio designed, it all came together beautifully and seamlessly tied into the venue. All of the thoughtful little touches that Emily and Mike incorporated were amazing. Emily gave her dad a pair of cufflinks that she had had made with a photo of her wearing a wedding dress as a little girl. Her dad was moved to tears since his speech made reference to the fact that this wasn't the first time she'd worn a wedding dress! I love these meaningful details! The way everything tied in together so perfectly was moving. What an incredible day this was! The weather ended up being absolutely perfect for Alexis and Danny's outside ceremony and barn reception at Vineyard of Mary's Meadow. Her exquisitely layered gown moved gracefully as she walked and I was rather obsessed with it the entire time. Alexis and Danny blended the rustic barn wood with soft details of greenery, burlap and lace and the sunflowers added a pop of warm color. Her bridesmaids rocked and were just so much fun to work with! These girls were ready for whatever came their way. With a crystal clear sky, a gentle breeze and warm sun, the day was ideal for an outdoor wedding at the Silver Swan Bayside in Stevensville, MD. It's one of the few venues along the shore of Kent Island where the sun sets on the water. Katie and Eddy's first look was an intimate exchange on the pier sharing a beer. During their vows a cruise ship passed behind her on its way from Baltimore. It was picturesque! Katie's dress was the kind that moved and danced in the wind that came while we were taking photos towards sunset. It was the perfect combination of drama--gusts of wind, a dark cloud with a few raindrops and the sun setting on the water. It was such a gorgeous wedding that took advantage of the outdoor space with lawn games and the indoor space with dancing, great music and delicious food! Karmell and Matt were married at the Belvedere Hotel in Baltimore, MD. The Belvedere is such an elegant hotel nestled in the Mount Vernon neighborhood in Baltimore and perfect regardless of the weather. It rained off and on throughout the day, but it dampened no one's spirits. Their ceremony and reception were in the ballroom and their friends and family were so excited to celebrate with them! Even the assistant principal of Karmell's high school was there! The most amazing part of their reception was the father/daughter dance. What began as a slow moving dance turned into a choreographed dance with Karmell and her dad working the dance floor. They can move! The night was complete with amazing food and a deejay that could get the crowd moving on the dance floor. It was a joyous occasion for these two who are some of the kindest and most gracious people. Katrina and Justin were two of the sweetest people! Both of them were so laid back and just took everything in throughout the day with smiles on their faces. When Samantha asked to have their engagement session at Jerusalem Mill Village, I was so excited. This place really has it all. Megan and Matt were married in the Palm House at the HP Rawlings Conservatory earlier this month. One of the reasons Megan and Matt picked the venue was that it required so little decoration. The Conservatory houses a lush palm house, an exquisite room of orchids, and 3 different climates of plants. Regardless of the weather, you're still able to get that outside garden feel. After their first look at the Baltimore waterfront, we traveled to HP Rawlings Conservatory for their ceremony and reception. Megan's brother was the officiant and her mother designed the fragrant bouquets and boutonnieres! Following their intimate ceremony, hors d'oeuvres and dinner followed, catered by Pairings Bistro--amazingly delicious shrimp and grits by the way.
